In a second interview with host Eliot Spitzer, I discuss the true cost of the Iraq war and my claim that the State Department is retaliating by trying to have me fired. We talk about how I was appalled by the waste and failed attempts to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people: “Projects would be funded, money would be spent — nobody would even look at the results. The important thing was to have pictures taken, propaganda put up, signs made in English so that the signs would look good on television and we would move onto the next thing … never bothering to look over our shoulder.”
