• If Not Now, When? Al Qaeda Resurgent in Iraq

Journalist Liz Sly reports a rejuvenated al Qaeda asserted control over the Iraqi city of Fallujah, raising its flag over government buildings and declaring an Islamic state in one of the most crucial areas that U.S. troops fought to pacify during our nine year War and Occupation.

Sly goes on to say that the capture of Fallujah came amid an explosion of violence across the western desert province of Anbar in which local tribes, Iraqi security forces and al Qaeda have been fighting one another for days in a confusingly chaotic three-way war.

Reality: About a third of all American deaths and wounds in the Iraq War and Occupation took place in Fallujah and nearby Anbar Province. In 2003, before the American Invasion, there was no al Qaeda in Iraq, and now there is.

Many who lost loved ones there, and many survivors, are now asking What Did They Fight For, What Did They Die For?

With great respect for everyone’s losses and sacrifices, the time to ask those questions is not just now, but when the U.S. government begins beating the drums ahead of the next war. Please don’t be fooled again.

So maybe it is time to admit what many Americans think happened in Iraq is a myth– the reality is playing out daily there. The near-complete destruction of civil society in 2003 was a hole that could not be climbed out of. The U.S. never addressed the fundamentals in Iraq and, when the war grew tiresome, just left. The endless backslapping over the “Anbar Awakening” and COIN now is clearly hollow. History will judge said the Iraq War apologists, and now it has.

Anyone offended by the image above can kiss my ass. That’s what war does and you should not turn away from it. It is America’s decisions to fight pointless wars that does that to our fathers, brothers and sons. If you won’t save them, at least look at them and know what your bloodlust for more war did to them.

Maybe we should hold a comedy mock Nuremberg Trial with actors playing the various Bush team criminals-sort of a staged reality show on daytime TV. The show could run for years without running out of villains. It may be as close as America ever gets to “atonement”.

Offended? While I feel sorry for every soldier wounded and killed since WW11, not one single war has been fought since to “protect my freedoms”. You know it, I know it. If anything, if Iraq/Afghanistan isn’t enough to prove beyond a shadow of doubt what these wars are about, any American who joins the military now, because he believes the USG propaganda..is a certifiable idiot. PERIOD.

Yeah, well it would have to be the only LIVE show in history to show BLOODY executions the scale of which would exceed the French Revolution. Atonement indeed. This country doesn’t know the meaning. For all the insidious death to innocent life the USG/MIC has caused on this planet from Vietnam forward, at a ratio of 1-10 WDC would become a ghost town. I could only wish. However.. I don’t think anyone would be laughing.

We will be. One of the few reasons I support mandatory military service. I suspect we’d be less likely to expend blood and treasure when everyone has to serve.

Just what we need. The entire age compliant population serving Empire. Give me a fucking break.

And just how would that work? Mass mutiny? right.
We saw how that worked out in Iraq.(cue Collateral Damage video)

How bout this instead. America pull it’s head out of it’s ass and refuse to fund these insidious war criminals on April 15th.

Failing that..perhaps surrounding WDC with 3% of American gun owners ready to drag these cockroaches out of their granite palaces and burn them alive…hmmmmmm? After all..ever forget Kurt Hofmann’s variant of Edmund Burke:
“Remember: Evil exists because good men don’t kill the government officials committing it.”

Too fucking late, Peter. Looking forward to 2016, it’s Clinton vs Christie. As told by Gates of Hell, HRC only opposed the Iraq surge for political reasons,as opposed to her support for the war. Meanwhile, Christie will support any war, even if it’s a bridge too far:

Speaking of CC the Hut, he is the right man to represent The DUMBEST COUNTRY ON THE PLANET:

Ft Lee Mayor Sokolich said Wednesday he didn’t know if Christie was directly involved in the lane closures, but he lamented what the whole controversy had done to New Jersey’s reputation.

“You’ve now set New Jersey back 20 years and guaranteed us to be the brunt of political misconduct jokes that we’ve been hearing about all these years,” he said. “Just when we thought we were moving in the right direction.”
