• Hillary Goes All Casual Friday Everyday; Bachmann a Well-Dressed Traitor

Anybody who still is not sure that Hillary Clinton is pretty much done with politics soon should check out her latest photos. Now here’s a person that pretty much walks the walk and talks the talk that she is way past caring. Check it out, at left. This new spirit of casualness opens the door for me to wear my Free Bradley Manning T-shirt to work at Foggy Bottom next week.

Meanwhile, the other person I am being fired by the State Department for mocking, complete idiot Michelle Bachmann, has just demonstrated her loyalty to the US of America by becoming a citizen of another country. Sure, it’s Switzerland, a kind of OK country with no reported US drone strikes at present. Nothing says “I love my country” like becoming a citizen of another country. Of course that should not matter to Bachmann, as she is only running for another term in Congress and making laws there could not possibly conflict with her loyalty to her new country, right?

Maybe Hillary’s State Department could look into whether or not Bachmann has lost her US citizenship by naturalizing as a danged foreigner now.

HuffPo reminds that Bachmann is a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Financial Services Committee. So the former now includes not merely a foreign citizen, but a citizen of a country not even allied with the U.S., and the latter includes a citizen of a country that just happens to have 1) an exemption for tax evasion in its extradition treaty with the U.S. (an exemption that some convicted American tax evaders took full advantage of) and 2) banking secrecy laws which frequently cause no small amount of frustration to various parts of U.S. government, including, of course, the House Financial Services Committee.

Perhaps Bachmann could check on patriot Mitt Romney’s Swiss bank accounts on her next visit “home”?

    Awkward!

Actually the State Department doesn’t make it so easy to lose US nationality through foreign naturalization. They require a 450 dollar fee before they’ll acknowledge a renunciation of citizenship.

I hope you’re not equating expatriation and gaining another citizenship with treason or treachery. Lots of Americans have settled in other countries and become citizens of them, which is the opposite of treachery if you make another country your permanent home. But Bachmann isn’t moving to Switzerland.

As for Hillary’s photo, Orwell wrote, “After a certain age, a man becomes responsible for his own face”, meaning the habits of a lifetime of good or evil become written on the face.

Conventional beauty is not the criterion, rather the habits of truth and kindness or of lies and cruelty begin to shape the face by middle-age or so.

Two examples, both of conventionally non-beautiful persons, contrast and compare:

      1. A truthful, homely middle-aged man with a long nose and pointy chin, Charles de Gaulle:

      2. His contemporary and enemy, a LYING, homely middle-aged man with a long nose and pointy chin:

De Gaulle’s hang-dog face has a softness absent from his enemy’s. Their spiritual and mental habits made the difference in their otherwise similar faces.

Of course some of this is humor via exaggeration, and as you point out, it is not easy to “lose” one’s American Citizenship. Technically, as long as Bachmann states she naturalized as a Swiss *without* the intent to dispose of her US citizenship she is on safe ground. The Courts and the State Department have made one’s claimed intent the key factor, and rightly so.

Same for all the thousands of Americans who live abroad and/or have dual citizenship. They are clearly not traitors in any sweeping way. My *intent* was to again poke fun at Bachmann, she the candidate of (false) uber patriotism.

One wonders how she would have reacted a year ago should one of her opponents taken out a foreign citizenship, say Kenyan?

Now Bachmann-Turncoat-Overdrive has something in common with our Kenyan president.

BTW- When does the turncoat lose HER security clearance?

OMG Bachmann hits new highs of stupidity. She has now, 24 hours of Swiss citizenship later, renounced her Swiss citizenship: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/michele-bachmann-withdraw-her-swiss-citizenship-during-her-201609467.html

Why, why, why would anyone vote for someone this stupid?

Actually, it was a smart move for them.
Her children reportedly wanted her to get Swiss citizenship so they could move there for free health care, and her husband likes the Swiss tolerance for gay unions. Reportedly, the Swiss Miss just wanted to be near her bank account.

Yes, Peter, it is hard to understand what La Clinton is after with this look. Perhaps she’s trying to reclaim the groovy college girl, before she had to do the flip-flop on her not gonna “Stand By Your Man”, when she sold her soul for . . . all that has garnered now.

But, y’know, there’s a schmeer of ruby red lipstick, and she’s still having the hair tinted, and rockin’ those geometrical Palin-esque glasses … I’d call it, “calculated grunge”.

      Peter,

It just hit me: This is a transitional image. I don’t mean to be cruel, but she’s shedding her female self, like a cicada molting its exoskeleton. This is merely one step on the way to morphing into Joe Biden, who I believe she will be replacing.

If you could set them side by side, you would see what I’m getting at. Mssr. Clinton could not do health care, but I believe Hillary will take up the mantle of same-sex marriage. Of course, it is not quite time, and it may well be her Waterloo.

But I believe she was destined for it, as Capt. Edward Smith was destined for Titanic.

      Baby steps, y’know?

      Peter asks per Mrs. Bachmann,

“Why, why, why would anyone vote for someone this stupid?”

I believe Forest Gump explained, “Stupid is as stupid does.” Ergo (*flash*), there are some stupid people in our Republic who would be willing to cast such a vote.

      . . . and well it should.

I remember the day I had my awakening. Whilst on line at a Super Walmart, waiting to purchase my groceries and observing the activity and the utterances of those around me, it hit me like a bat out of hell: At least 70% (conservatively) of the folks around me are totally foreign to me, and I am a stranger in a strange land. I do not think this was strictly a function of being in Walmart.

THIS is my country. It was my Talking Heads “Once in a Lifetime” moment.
