The Project on Government Oversight (POGO) published its summer reading list, and was kind enough to include We Meant Well alongside books like Michael Hastings The Operators, Drift by Rachel Maddow and Black Banners by Ali Soufan.

The whole list is worth reading and, packed on to your Kindle and digested over the summer, provides a tidy snapshot of the current state of the War of Terror.

One of the few books I have not read on the list is Beautiful Souls: Saying No, Breaking Ranks, and Heeding the Voice of Conscience in Dark Timesby Eyal Press. The book tries to explain what impels ordinary people to defy the sway of authority and convention and become whistleblowers, protesters and heroes. The conclusion tracks with my own experience and the experiences of the other whistleblowers I have come to know, that acts of dissent are often carried out not by radicals seeking to overthrow the system but by true believers who cling to their convictions.

See the whole list of summer reading over at POGO.

After seeing Rachel Maddow’s circus act analysis of Fast and Furious..I think I’ll pass on her Drift.
Speaking of drift, she might drift on by McDonalds. Rumor has it Ronald is retiring and her qualifications are a slam dunk. Besides, it’s a step up in prestige too.

Other than her predilection for alcohol,I don’t know what happened to her, but she was a total buffoon the other night. umm..I think I answered my own question..never mind. Thing is though, I used to think her Liberal bias didn’t fog her objective analysis of political events. I was wrong. What she did the other night was a perfect example of competence without comprehension, as she actually mocked the death of Agent Terry and hundreds of Mexican nationals via gunwalking by the ATF. Shame on her. I now know the stuff she’s made of and it makes me puke.

Fool that I am, I spent a couple of months writing up my Pat Tillman annotations to Micheal Hasting’s book “The Operators.” I’ve summarized my work on the “untold” Tillman story in my e-book “Something to Die For” posted at http://www.feralfirefighter.blogspot.com

P.S. I’ve included a “shout out” to you and other whistleblowers in the Afterword (p.140) “Maybe It Had Been Trash from the Get-Go, Myths to Feed the Public.”
