• Would You Have Chelsea Manning’s Courage When Called?

Chelsea will be free in May!

With more than a little irony, while I was in Iraq working for the State Department, Chelsea Manning’s office was across the hall from mine. While I was winning the war by writing emails to the embassy, Manning was across the hall capturing the texts of hundreds of thousands of State Department cables, famously released by Wikileaks, showing that was could never be won.

My war in Iraq ended in near-complete failure. What Manning did will have an impact far beyond that terrible struggle. In this video, I ask the question of why I didn’t do what Manning did, and challenge the audience: when faced with history, would you have the courage to do what Manning did?

    I didn’t.

Maybe it will motivate an IRS Employee to do something that Donald Trump won’t do.

Views on tax returns shift decidedly away from Trump’s position. Seventy-four present overall say he should release his tax returns; that includes 49 percent of his own supporters, as well as nearly all of Clinton’s (94 percent) and 83 percent of those who had another preference, or none.

The number who favor release of the documents is higher than it was in two related questions in ABC/Post polls during the election campaign. In May, 64 percent said he should release the returns, and in September, 63 percent said he was not justified in withholding them.

In one key support group for Trump, noncollege-educated white men, 58 percent say he should release the tax returns; that rises to 81 percent of college-educated white women and 88 percent of nonwhites. By another measure, 69 percent in the red states — those Trump won — say he should release these records, as do 81 percent in Clinton’s blue states.

Maybe he is afraid to show all those business deductions for his Russian prostitues.

Letter from 9/11 mastermind to Obama reportedly reaches White House

      Published January 18, 2017

Inside the horrifying head of the 9/11 mastermind
A 2014 letter from the mastermind behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks to President Barack Obama reportedly reached the White House.

A White House source confirmed the delivery of Khalid Sheik Mohammed’s letter to the Miami Herald on Monday, but failed to say whether Obama had read it.

Mohammed’s lawyer David Nevin told the Herald that the 51-year-old wrote to Obama about “Muslim oppression at the hand of the West in general and the United States in particular.”

Nevin also said the letter also delves into Iraq during the time of U.S. sanctions and touches on Palestine and Gaza “over the years.”

The Miami Herald reported that the Guantanamo Bay detention center refused to deliver the letter, until Army Col. James L. Pohl made a point of getting the package to Obama before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

Pohl reportedly ruled there was no “legal basis for continued sealing of the letter’s contents.” The prison was allowed to scrub the letter of so-called “sensitive information” before it can be posted on the Pentagon war court website.

Mohammed is currently waiting a death penalty trial at Guantanamo

Peter, you are one of the most courageous people and your book, We Meant Well, is an act of moral and political consciousness, a wake up call for our society. We’d be in the dark, and so would be the illegal and vile actions those who abuse their positions in our government carry out, if it weren’t for the actions of whistle blowers like you.

We wouldn’t have had any coverage about loss and corruption of USG taxpayer money in Iraq and Afghanistan. We Meant Well changed this. Your book and actions were vital in this. THank you for what you have done and helping explain why corruption matters and can’t be tolerated.

President Obama gave a full pardon Tuesday to retired Gen. James “Hoss” Cartwright, who was convicted of lying to the FBI during an investigation into a leak about American efforts to sabotage the Iranian nuclear program. The pardon followed an intense lobbying campaign on behalf of Cartwright that included expressions of support, relayed by Cartwright’s lawyer, from former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, according to sources familiar with the effort.

So defense lawyers take note, a good word from a couple of mass murderers can get your client off too.
