• Velcome, Comrade Trump

It is impressively sad how quickly this all happened.

Their shock that Hillary could lose to… him… needed some sort of explanation, as it could not have anything to do with Clinton’s shortcomings. It was cheating (we’ll have recounts), it was the Electoral College (faithless electors, unite!), it was Comey, or the media, or… when all else fails, you go with what you know: the Russians.

Putin is just a wonderful supervillain, and Trump such a stupid foil, that it was an easy sell. Dust off some old propaganda (the RT.com Red Scare part of the IC report was four years old itself, the material in it about 50 years old) and you are set. The American people are the most frightened puppies on earth and with terrorism just not scary as it once was, a new villian that plays to old fears appeared at the right place at the right time.

The Chinese might have been a good group to blame, but they don’t seem to take the bait and plus they make all our stuff. Never mind that long string of evil dictators who attack their own people across the MidEast the U.S. has used for the last 15 years to keep the war machine chugging, we’re back to the Eagle versus Bear. We’ll probably give Putin back the Fulda Gap just so we can fight over it.

After that, it is all just farce. Yes, yes, Trump is a secret agent, cleverly cultivated for years (how did the Russians know he’d be president, oh, yeah, they are all chess masters), blackmailed by Boris and Natasha with a (Hmmm, what should it be, how about) golden showers. People who appear on RT.com are puppets, anyone who traveled to Russia suspect, those who deny any of this simply useful idiots.

If you’re a journalist, simply phone up your favorite CIA leaker for a quote, or hell, just make something up, throw in a few Googled-translated Russian words for stooge (марионетка) or compromise (компромат) to make seem authentic, slap on a closing line about our very democracy itself in danger, use a few Tom Clancy terms such as “clear and present danger,” and poof, you’ve made your deadline before lunch.

It’s going to be four years, and it will get worse.

      Speaking of the Russians…

That they are talking…. And willing to talk….. Is progess.

But… I do love this quote…… They tell it like it is….. Too.

“”I am convinced we will be able to restart a dialogue on strategic stability with Washington that was destroyed along with everything else by the Obama administration,” Mr Lavrov was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described allegations his country holds compromising material on US President-elect Donald Trump as “utter nonsense”.
Mr Putin questioned what reason Russian intelligence would have had to spy on Mr Trump before he entered politics.
He said those making the allegations were “worse than prostitutes”.
Memos published last week alleged Mr Trump’s election team colluded with Russia which also had salacious videos of his private life.
The allegations claim Russia has damaging information about the US president-elect’s business interests, and that Mr Trump had been filmed with prostitutes at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Moscow during the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.
Mr Trump has dismissed the memos, said to have been prepared by a former British spy, as “fake news”.
The claims – how and why?
How did Trump ‘compromise’ claims come to light?
Trump’s briefing a theatre of the absurd
Speaking in Moscow, Mr Putin also said the published documents were “clearly fakes”, published by those trying to “undermine the legitimacy of the elected president”.
“When Trump came to Moscow, he was not a political figure, we were not even aware of his political ambitions,” Mr Putin said.
“Does somebody think that our secret services are chasing every American billionaire? Of course not. It is utter nonsense.”
He added that he did not see why Mr Trump would rush to meet prostitutes in Moscow, given he was organising beauty pageants and meeting “the most beautiful women in the world”.
“I find it hard to imagine he ran to a hotel to meet our girls of ‘low social responsibility’… though they are of course also the best in the world. But I doubt Trump took that bait.”
Media captionDonald Trump said the information was ‘fake’
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the UK ex-spy said to have prepared the memos is “some runaway crook from the MI6”.
Christopher Steele, who runs a London-based intelligence firm, was highly regarded by his bosses when he worked for the British foreign spy agency MI6, sources have told the BBC.
US intelligence agencies considered the claims relevant enough to brief both Mr Trump and President Barack Obama.
Mr Trump accused US intelligence of leaking the content from a classified briefing – a claim denied by James Clapper, director of National Intelligence.
      Image caption
Christopher Steele is believed to have left his home last week
Mr Putin also said reports that Russian hackers had interfered in the US election were “fake news”, though he told people to keep in mind that “the hackers didn’t make anything up – whoever they were – they just uncovered material”.
The hacking scandal dominated the US election campaign, with US spy agencies concluding Russia was behind the hacking and release of Democratic Party emails intended to damage the campaign of Hillary Clinton.
      Russia has consistently denied it.
      ‘Restart a dialogue’
Signalling optimism that the US-Russia relationship will improve under the new administration, Mr Lavrov said he was encouraged by some pragmatic comments from the Trump team so far.
He said that Moscow was ready to co-operate with the new administration on key issues including nuclear weapons and Syria. US representatives have been invited to Syria peace talks in Kazakhstan next week but are yet to respond, he added.
“I am convinced we will be able to restart a dialogue on strategic stability with Washington that was destroyed along with everything else by the Obama administration,” Mr Lavrov was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.
US-Russia relations have worsened significantly in recent years over the war in Ukraine, the Syrian conflict and cyber-hacking. ”

EXCLUSIVE:President-elect Donald Trump has told ‘Fox and Friends’ co-host Ainsley Earhardt that he doesn’t mind Democratic members of Congress boycotting his inauguration, saying “I hope they give me their tickets.”

At least 60 Democratic members of the House of Representatives have opted to miss Friday’s ceremonies, most notably Georgia Rep. John Lewis, who said last week that he did not consider Trump a “legitimate” president.

“I think he just grandstanded, John Lewis, and then he got caught in a very bad lie, so lets see what happens,” said Trump, referencing Lewis’ previous boycott of George W. Bush’s 2001 inauguration. “As far as other people not going, thats OK, because we need seats so badly, I hope they give me their tickets.”

Trump spoke exclusively to Earhardt in an interview that will air Wednesday morning on “Fox and Friends.” Earhardt joined “Hannity” Tuesday night to preview the sit-down.

“Immediately when I sat down, I said How are you doing? because wed been with him on the campaign trail for basically two years,” Earhardt told Sean Hannity, “and he said, Its been exhausting, its been hard because Ive had to hire a lot of people.”

Earhardt said she and Trump ran through the president-elect’s plans to tackle a variety of issues, including ObamaCare.

“He said repeal and replace will happen at the same time, and that he doesnt want anyone to be sick. He wants to provide insurance to everyone,” Earhardt said. “I said You have a lot of critics that are wondering how youre going to pay for this. He said insurance companies, the big insurance companies, will help him pay for this.”

The president-elect also addressed his use of social media, which he says he will continue after he is sworn in as the 45th president.

“Look, I dont like tweeting. I have other things I could be doing,” Trump told Earhardt. “But I get very dishonest media, very dishonest press, and its my only way that I can get out and correct.

“Now, Im going to be close to 50 million people including Facebook and Instagram and things, Im going to be close to 50 million people,” Trump added. “So when people misrepresent me … I have at least a way of saying its a false statement. Now, if the press were honest, which its not, I would absolutely not use Twitter. I wouldnt have to.”

A D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson told Fox 5 DC that an ambulance was called to a report of a man who was trying to light himself on fire. The man suffered minor burns.

We have a dictator that has been elected, the unidentified man told WRC-TV. He told the station he was from California.

The man told a reporter that he tried to set himself ablaze as an act of protest.

Emergency personnel transported the man to an area hospital. The mans condition was unknown. No one else was injured in the small fire.

Its unclear whether he will face charges.

An unapologetic liberal, he was no fan of firearms. He had never owned one before. But Waugh, a 31-year-old from Independence, Missouri, couldn’t shake his fears of a Donald Trump presidency — and all of the chaos it could bring. He imagined hate crimes and violence waged by extremists emboldened by the Republican nominee’s brash, divisive rhetoric. He pictured state-sanctioned roundups of Muslims, gays, and outspoken critics.

“I kept asking myself, ‘Do I want to live under tyranny?’” said Waugh, who supported Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary and later backed Hillary Clinton. “The answer was absolutely not.”

With Trump now days away from assuming the White House, Waugh’s preparing for the worst. He’s made “bug-out bags” stuffed with ammo, energy bars, and assorted survival gear for his wife and their three cats. He’s begun stowing water and browsing real estate listings in Gunnison County, Colorado, which he’s determined to be a “liberal safe-haven.” Last month, Waugh added a 9mm handgun to his arsenal.

His advice to others on the left fearful of the next four years? “Get ready. Pay attention. Keep your wits about you.”

Donald Trump may be a time traveler.

“Have you ever met Vladimir Putin?” Savage asks.

      “Yes,” Trump answers, emphatically.

      “You have?” Savage follows up.

“Yes, a long time ago. We got along great, by the way.”

Trump’s responses to Savage add to the confusing, flatly contradictory comments the President-elect has made about his past dealings with the Russian president.

While in Moscow during the Miss Universe content, Trump had given an interview to MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts that he spoke, indirectly and directly, with President Putin, who could not have been nicer.”

But when later repeatedly pressed last July 31 by ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, Trump gave a very different answers about Putin.. “I ‘ve never met him,” Trump said then. “I have no relationship with Putin. I don’t think I’ve ever met him. I never met him. … I mean if he’s in the same room or something. But I don’t think so.” …”

“You’ve never spoken to him on the phone?” Stephanopoulos followed up.

“I have never spoken to him on the phone, no,” Trump replied. “Well, I don’t know what it means by having a relationship. I mean he was saying very good things about me, but I don’t have a relationship with him. I didn’t meet him. I haven’t spent time with him. I didn’t have dinner with him. I didn’t go hiking with him. I don’t know — and I wouldn’t know him from Adam except I see his picture and I would know what he looks like. By the way, not together-together, meaning he was probably shot in Moscow….And I was shot in New York.”

Billy Pilgrim had the same problem in Philadelphia.

      ELECTION 2016
Obama Pardons Unrepentant Terrorist Oscar López Rivera
      Christine Rousselle  | January 18, 2017

While this was definitely overshadowed by Chelsea Manning’s pardon yesterday, it’s certainly noteworthy. In addition to Manning, Obama also pardoned Oscar López Rivera, a Puerto Rican nationalist who was convicted of seditious conspiracy, use of force to commit robbery, interstate transportation of firearms and ammunition to aid in the commission of a felony, and interstate transportation of stolen vehicles.

Lopez Rivera is a Puerto Rican nationalist and a member of nationalist group Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional Puertorriqueña (“FALN”), who sought independence for the island territory so that it could become a socialist nation. FALN orchestrated a series of bombings that killed six people. Rivera functioned as a bomb maker for the group and helped to recruit others.

Lopez Rivera was sentenced to 51 years in prison in 1981, and an additional 15 years were tacked on to his sentence after he attempted to escape from prison in 1988.

In 1999, President Bill Clinton offered Lopez Rivera and 15 other members of FALN conditional clemency if they would renounce violence and terrorism. While 14 FALN members accepted this offer, Lopez Rivera and another did not. Congress condemned this conditional clemency offer by an overwhelming margin

He was convicted of trying to overthrow the government, and named a leader of a terrorist group that bombed public buildings and killed people.

Now, President Obama’s decision to commute the sentence of FALN member Oscar Lopez Rivera has sparked outrage from terror victims.

“I’m disgusted by what the president did. It’s a travesty,” said Joe Connor, whose father was killed in an infamous FALN terrorist bombing in Manhattan.

“The enemies of our country are being rewarded, and being treated as if they are heroes. What we hear is that Oscar Lopez Rivera did not get to know his family. Well, neither did my father. The victims and the Americans get pushed aside.”

Rivera has been serving a 55-year federal prison sentence for being a leader of the Puerto Rican terrorist group, which sought independence for the U.S. island territory. The FALN claimed responsibility for over 70 bombings in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Chicago from 1974 to 1983. The attacks killed five people and wounded dozens more, including police officers.

In 1981, Lopez Rivera was convicted of seditious conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government and arms trafficking. He was later sentenced to serve 15 more years behind bars for trying to escape twice, and he never renounced his radical cause.

In 1999, on the eve of Hillary Clinton’s U.S. Senate run in New York, her husband, President Clinton, commuted the sentences of 16 imprisoned FALN members. But Lopez Rivera reportedly turned the offer down, refusing to be released unless all of his comrades were released from prison.

Now, 18 years later, he will be walking out of the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., a free man, his sentence cut short by 34 years.

“I went to his parole hearing in 2011,” said Connor. “We were looking for some sort of reconciliation, some sort of admission, some sort of atonement. We didn’t get any of that. He is a sworn terrorist, and for the president to release a sworn terrorist for political reasons, or whatever reason, is a disgrace.”

Joe was only 9 years old when his father Frank went to have lunch at the historic Fraunces Tavern, near Wall Street, on Jan. 24, 1975. The colonial landmark is where President George Washington bid farewell to his troops on Dec. 4, 1783. That is why the symbol of the nation was targeted.

As Frank had lunch, a bomb suddenly exploded, killing him and three others. More than 60 people were injured. Frank Connor was 33 years old, and since then his son has taken up the crusade to speak out against terrorism and freedom for the killers. He says Lopez Rivera never admitted or accepted responsibility for his acts, never expressed any remorse, and that the president’s decision sends a horrible message.

“It does nothing but encourage terrorism, it makes you think that at some point, terrorism will be forgiven,” he said.

Lopez Rivera has become a cause célèbre among some Latino officials and celebrities, who have claimed he is a freedom fighter unfairly imprisoned for his political beliefs. His supporters range from Broadway’s “Hamilton” creator Lin Manuel Miranda to several members of Congress, the mayor of San Juan, the speaker of the New York City Council, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa. More than 100,000 people signed a petition urging Obama to grant the clemency.

“I think it is an historic moment for the Puerto Rican people,” said Lopez Rivera’s brother, Jose, who lives in Chicago.

“It’s a moment where we can say the president of the United States, this President Obama, has really shown that we have to reach a level of reconciliation. My brother went to prison and charged with seditious conspiracy for exposing the fact that the U.S. is a colonial power in Puerto Rico,” he said.

Connor countered, “There are no political prisoners, the United States does not hold political prisoners, these were terrorists.”

Connor is also calling for the extradition of American fugitives from Cuba, including convicted cop killer and Black Liberation Army member Joanne Chesimard and FALN chief bomb maker Willie Morales. Morales has been called the suspected mastermind of the Fraunces Tavern bombing that killed Joe’s father and he remains protected by the Castro regime even as he is on the FBI’s Most Wanted List with a $100,000 reward offered for his capture.

“We have 70 or 80 fugitives in Cuba, and we have to now look to the Trump administration and say, hey we have to bring back Willie Morales,” Connor said.

“We need justice, and my father deserved that justice. He was a good man, and the rest of the people who were murdered by the FALN deserve justice.”

Lopez Rivera will walk out of prison a free man on May 17, and President Trump, by U.S. law, will not be able to reverse the decision.

At least one Politician is acting like an adult.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –  A Maryland lawmaker has fired a legislative aide who was behind a fake news site that accused Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of election-rigging.

Media outlets report that Del. David Vogt III said Wednesday he terminated Cameron Harris “on the spot” after learning that Harris was behind ChristianTimesNewspaper.com and a fabricated article that reported the discovery of tens of thousands of “fraudulent Clinton votes” in Ohio. Vogt is a Frederick County Republican.

Vogt says he was shocked when he read a New York Times story outlining Harris’ creation of the story.

Harris recently graduated from Davidson College and had worked for the delegate since June. Harris apologized on Twitter to “those disappointed by my actions” and called for a “larger dialogue about how Americans approach the media” and other issues.

Sure does not take much to get some powerful people bent.

      And… Some not so powerful.

“In a surprise move, RT (formerly known as Russia Today) has been banned from posting articles, photos, and videos to Facebook. The ban was instituted yesterday after RT allegedly ran a pirated stream of Obama’s last press conference. The ban is scheduled to be lifted at 2:35pm ET on Saturday, the day after Trump’s inauguration.

[Update, 2:38pm: Facebook just lifted the ban, which lasted about 20 hours, but the company still hasn’t gotten back to us about why RT was specifically banned in the first place. The State Department has also not responded to a request for comment.]

[Update, 2:52pm: Facebook just sent us this statement confirming that the ban had been lifted: “All the features for this page owner have now been restored. We are looking into the reasons behind the temporary block.”]

While RT has been banned from posting articles, the news outlet is still able to post text directly to Facebook. The Kremlin-funded media outlet was an early and vocal supporter of president-elect Donald Trump, leading some people to find the timing of the ban suspicious.

“I’m not surprised. If the Department of State could block oxygen to us, they would do it”, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan was quoted saying overnight.

“We were blocked while livestreaming Obama’s final press-conference. Such things happen because (for ex.) some other news media livestreams carry the same shots and feed, and Facebook considers this a copyright violation,” RT said in a statement on Facebook. ”

      Get the popcorn ready:

Activists operating as part of the DisruptJ20 coalition will stage protests Friday at security checkpoints around the National Mall, where access is limited to inaugural ticket holders. An early delay could cause major delays and create a ripple effect of congestion across a crowded city that, according to Department of Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson, could see as many as 900,000 spectators attend inaugural ceremonies.

Demonstrators also plan to create impromptu blockades along the heavily fortified inaugural parade route. Unlike the Women’s March on Saturday, which secured permits and will provide protesters with porta-potties and spaces to accommodate the disabled, DisruptJ20 is aiming to shut down key thoroughfares and gum up the inaugural glitz.

Less than 24 hrs. to close Gitmo,

Now…… Its the prisoners fault Gitmo can’t be closed.

Tell you what…. You kidnap me…. Torture me…..do things that only really twisted puppy killers can come up with…… For 10 or 15 years…..

I would be to dangerous to let out too.

“President Obama’s famous pledge to close the Pentagon’s Guantanamo Bay detention facility was ultimately done in by the very evil of the men it houses.

While hundreds of enemy combatants and terror suspects have been through the facility since the war on terror began – with many returning to the fight – the most hardcore Al Qaeda operatives ever captured remain there. They are too dangerous to set free, and no one else wants them.

During its peak, Gitmo held some 778 suspected Al Qaeda operatives. Obama acclerated the policy of his predecessor, President Bush, to free those deemed to no longer be a risk. Within the last week, another 14 were released from the facility, and turned over to other countries willing to hold them.

But the federal government admits that once they leave Gitmo, there’s no guarantee their new countries will keep them locked up. And the Pentagon has estimated that at least 30 percent returned to the battlefield, killing Americans and their allies.

The policy of closing Guantanamo Bay has made America less safe, said Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. The best way to gather intelligence long term to help prevent Islamic terror attacks is by capturing those engaged in Islamic terror groups and questioning them over a long period of time.

The Trump administration will reverse Obamas policy and keep Gitmo open, Johnson predicted.

As long as the war on terror continues, as long as Islamic terrorists want to attack the civilized world including the U.S. and U.S. interests, we ought to try to find them, and where we can, capture them and question them, Johnson said. I dont know why we would handcuff ourselves and not have a detention facility.

During the terms of President Bush, who opened Gitmo after 9/11, the prisoner count swelled to 779. It had dropped to 242 when Obama took office, and now stands at 41.

Still at Gitmo for more than a decade are some of the worst of the worst, Johnson said.

The most famous – and most dangerous – occupant is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a Pakistani senior Al Qaeda recruiter, financer and operational planner who the Pentagon calls the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks. The 52-year-old terrorist also was indicted for his role in the Feb. 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Jay Hood, who oversaw the detention facility, and who has personally interviewed many of the terrorists there, said clearly Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other top Al Qaeda operatives should never leave.

      Also remaining at Gitmo:

Abd al Aziz Ali, 40, a citizen of Pakistan and an Al Qaeda senior member and planner. His military records show that under the direction of his uncle, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, he helped plan 9/11 and was involved in numerous other plots against the US.

Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, 52, a citizen of Saudi Arabia, is considered one of Al Qaedas most skilled, capable and prolific operational coordinators. With a long jihadist history, he and has been linked to as many as a dozen plots to attack U.S. and western interests including the successful bombing of the USS Cole off the coast of Yemen on Oct. 12, 2000. He reported directed to Usama bin Laden, according to the U.S. military.

Abd al Hadi al Iraqi, 56, a citizen of Iraq, is a senior member of Al Qaeda, according to the U.S. military, which determined that in addition to serving as an accountant and commander for the terror network, al Iraqi also initiated attacks on coalition forces in Afghanistan.

Mustafa Ahmed al Hawsawi, 48, a citizen of Saudi Arabia, is a senior Al Qaeda member who served as a facilitator, financial manager and media committee member his records show. He is accused of planning the movement of 9-11 hijackers and helping to obtain financing for the terror plot.

Ramzi Bin al Shibh, a citizen of Yemen, is a senior Al Qaeda operative who, according to his military file, was the coordinator of the 9-11 attacks.

Walid Bin Attash, a citizen of Yemen, is a senior Al Qaeda operative who served as a trusted bodyguard for Bin Laden. His military file said the 38-year-old helped coordinate and acquire materials for the USS Cole bombing.

After reviewing the background of many of those still at Gitmo, Hood said it is obvious why other countries around the world do not want to take them off our hands. ”

What I know… Think….. Is they have never had “trials”… And never will.

Kind of like the “king”…. Or in this case… “kings”…. Throwing someone in the dungeons and forgetting about them.

They, I think, are destined to die there…. After a lifetime of torture.

A philosopher once said….words to the effect of…want to see how sick a society is…. Look at its prisons.

In reality…. Gitmo is not all the different than that sick bastard in Ohio that was keeping those girls captive for decades.

Only difference… Gitmo…. They are trying to torture decades old Intel out of them….

And…. Feel powerful debasing other humans.

      A bit like the Nazi’s.

      Pretty sick.

Makes you ashamed to be an American…. Or human.

Here would be a …few…. Good reasons as to why Trump is wanting to give the UN a beating….

Add in what the UN did to Haiti…. And 3 other nations with Cholera….

“. Former UN Secretary General’s nephew, accused of bribery, worked for firm that is UN landlord

      Jan 19, 2017

The nephew of former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, arrested for an alleged bribery and money laundering scheme, worked as a broker at a real estate firm that is also the U.N.s landlord, and where the U.N. Secretariat spent more than $9 million on office space last year alone.

The firm, Colliers International Realty, is a global company that among other things is the landlord of the 18-storey FF Building at 304 East 45th Street in mid-town Manhattan. The U.N. Secretariat, despite a recently completed $2 billion renovation of its showcase headquarters, uses five separate leases to rent nine floors of office space and houses some 550 staff at the FF Building at a cost of $9,245,455 last year, according to a U.N. spokesperson.

The remainder of the building is rented by other U.N. entities, the spokesman said.

One of those entities is the United Nations Development Program, whose website lists offices for its capacity development group on the buildings 6th floor. According to figures provided by a UNDP spokesperson, the annual lease cost for that space is about $7.7 million.

According to the spokesperson, the most recent U.N. lease extension was signed in November 2016Secretary General Ban Ki-moon left his job at the end of December– and extended the U.N. Secretariats occupancy to at least 2027.

The former Secretary Generals nephew, Joo Hyun Bahn, also known as Dennis Bahn, and his father Ban Ki-Sangformer Secretary General Bans brotherwere charged on January 10 with, among other things, conspiring to bribe a Middle Eastern official to finance and close an $800 million deal for a 72-storey skyscraper in Vietnam. Dennis Bahn was subsequently released on $250,000 bail; his father remains at large.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorneys Office of the Southern District of New York after the arrests, both the son and his real estate firm were hired by the father to work on the deal, which was supposed to result in a multimillion dollar commission for Bahn.

Instead, the two allegedly decided to turn to bribery to get a Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund to put up money for the transaction. However, U.S. federal prosecutors say they were in turn double-crossed by a middle-man who stole a major portion of the bribe money and is still at large.

Neither Ban Ki-moon nor the U.N. was mentioned in relation to Dennis Bahns alleged crimes, and Colliers was not identified by name in the U.S. Attorneys release.

A spokesperson for Colliers told Fox News that Dennis Bahn was no longer associated with Colliers, while the father was never associated with the realty company.

We will continue to provide any assistance requested by applicable authorities in connection with this matter, Colliers declared in a statement to Fox News. At this stage we are not in a position to provide any further comment.

The U.N. leasehold at 304 East 45th Street is a decades-old affair, dating back originally to June 1995, 13 years before Secretary General Ban Ki-moon took office. Before the Bahn imbroglio, it was already a small, scandal-tainted footnote in U.N. history.

Among other things, the U.N. Secretariat space contained the office of Alexander Yakovlev, a Russian-born, U.N. Procurement Department official who pleaded guilty in 2005 to wire fraud in connection with taking nearly $1 million in bribes to swing U.N. procurement contracts to a variety of companies through bid-rigging schemes.

He was arrested after a Fox News investigation uncovered the fact that his son was working for a company that did business with Yakovlev.

That was in violation of a U.N. rule stating that staff members shall not use their office or knowledge gained from their official functions for private gain, financial or otherwise, or for the private gain of any think party, including family, friends and those they favor.

The scandal brought down another Russian diplomat, Vladimir Kuznetsov, who at the time was head of the U.N.s chief budget advisory committee.

It also led to creation of a special, anti-corruption Procurement Task Force at the U.N., which said it uncovered at least 20 other major schemes involving more than $1 billion in U.N. contracts and services.

The Task Force died in 2009 after U.N. member states, led by Russia and Singapore, spearheaded a move to cut off the investigators funding. ”
