• We Meant Well in Afghanistan

If only someone had written a book about the mistakes in Iraq, the waste, the fraud, the endemic corruption which was clearly leading nowhere to warn everyone before they made the same errors in Afghanistan, Anne Smedinghoff would be on her fourth tour and I’d be Consul General in Belize.

But how about those Afghan Papers, crazy stuff huh?

For every taxpayer dollar wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan that taxpayer dollar went into somebody’s pocket.

A total of 91 corporations in the Fortune 500, many worth billions of dollars, paid no federal taxes last year, the Washington Post reported Monday.

About 400 of America’s largest corporations paid an average federal tax rate of about 11 percent on their profits last year, roughly half the official rate established under President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax law.

The ol USA has come so far. When lies of the latest war are exposed, nobody is shocked anymore. That is progress. We Americans know what we are.

As Smedley Butler (a retired USMC MajGen and two time CMOH recipient) noted in the 1930s “War is a racket.” Sure Bin Laden and AQ needed to go, but everything else that happened in Afghanistan (and everything that happened in Iraq) was about $$$ and/or furthering careers/egos. The powers that be really couldn’t care less about Anne Smedinghoff, all the dead or maimed vets, or (especially) the Afghan or Iraqi people. Sure they’ll give Ms. Smedinghoff (may she RIP) and the vets lip service, pay off their families and let them wait forever for so-so care from the VA, but that’s all just chicken feed to prevent another Bonus Army March on Washington. Happy friggin’ Holidays, right?

      Who killed Anne?

When someone tells you to support the troops and are more than happy to send them and not their own children to their deaths in wars of choice rather than defense, realize you are probably talking to a functioning sociopath at best. I used to think it was due to brainwashing of endless hours of shows like FOX, but have come to realize it is a genetic condition found in most of the world that is aggravated by endless fear and smear of the “other” on most media. These genes are proliferating while genes of people like Anne are cleansed. Ethic cleansing. Darwin would have predicted it.

This gene is predominant in Russia and Germany, which had very successful ethic cleansing in the past century, although America is making great advances too.

In case you are wondering, this ethic cleansing gene is prolific in both Repugnican and Dumbocrat Parties, as evidenced by the majority of the US population who thought illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were justified…just not for their kids.

      @ Rich Bauer

How can you point a finger at either Russia or Germany and ignore America’s ethnic cleansing of the native peoples of America?

      LJ!

Read the transcript …of my WMW comments. At last count, in over 30 of my comments I criticized this country’s sordid history of the mass murder of Native Americans. You can query Peter, who will be happy to confirm it. Now go back to Facebook or sleep or whatever drug deal you are cooking up.

      LJ,

PS: The term I mentioned here was ETHIC cleansing.

The articles I suggested you read criticizes Americas own history of ethnic cleansing.

I noticed a 2019 BMW Roadster in a Lowes parking lot. On it was a sticker- I’m a proud Vietnam Vet. So in this guy’s case there is no regret, no shame, no remorse, no doubt, no guilt, no……………….understanding of his and his country’s criminality. He drives a $150K car and he touts his military service. This guy’s vote sort of…… cancels my vote.

File under “This a joke, right?”

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s reputation has been ravaged this month by the inspector general report that proved that the FBI deceived the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to secretly spy on a Trump campaign official.

Even fired FBI chief James Comey was forced to admit that “I was wrong” in a Fox News interview Sunday regarding the FBI’s abuse of Carter Page. The Russiagate controversy could not have occurred unless much of the American media docilely recited the false charges that FBI officials fed them. A stunning new movie on Richard Jewell is a reminder that this is not the first time that collusion between the feds and the media destroyed the reputation of innocent Americans.”

Really? Since when did the FISA court reject any FBI request? Answer: 12 in over 33,000. So now it is a big problem?

Glenn Greenwald: “As always, in Establishment Media World, nothing is more insane or radical than refusing to believe every word the Government says. Even after Iraqi mushroom clouds and the whole litany of Government falsehoods, the establishment hallmark of Seriousness and Sanity is accepting the Government’s word. When it says Iraq was behind the attacks, then it was. When they said Hatfill was the culprit, he was. Now that they say that Ivins is, he is, and only “conspiracy theorists” — comparable to those who disbelieve we landed on the moon — would question that or demand to see the actual evidence. The FBI is relying, understandably so, on their mindless allies in the media to depict its case against Ivins as so airtight that no real investigation is necessary.”

The BMW Roadster I referenced was an i8 model. Very rare. Unfortunately the owner’s attitude towards his
Vietnam War service is fairly common- “I did nothing wrong! I’m a patriot!”

Bauer- are you implying I’m drunk when posting? Did you ever suit up or sign up or ask for an exemption during all the US invasions? You HAD to have been a candidate for heroism or avoidance. Even though I visited the KGB spy operations in an Estonia hotel but that doesn’t make me a comrade. I’ll share a bottle of Tequila with you anytime but not vodka.

My guess is that you were never conscripted to serve empire- your wars are ones you volunteered for! But hey, most of us have failed past crucibles. New ones appear daily.
